The Wisdom Tooth Extraction Process

While there are some patients whose wisdom teeth fully erupt and cause no issues, others suffer irritation, pain, and poor oral health because of their presence. When this happens, it is imperative that our team work to remove them so that your smile does not continue to suffer.

To remove these teeth, our dentist will determine if a simple or surgical procedure must be performed. If the teeth, which are located in the back of the mouth on the upper and lower arches, have partially erupted, it is possible to remove them using a dental elevator and forceps. The dentist will rock the teeth back and forth until they are no longer attached.

If the teeth are impacted, surgical intervention will be necessary. An incision will be made in the appropriate areas of the gums before each tooth is removed in sections so that there is less damage to the underlying bone.
